Intergenerational Programs

In fellowship with Christ the King School, this ministry unites senior adults of the parish with young students to enrich both generations.

Parish Star Program

The Parish Star program pairs senior adults with students in Kindergarten through the second grade.  Seniors and their students exchange greeting cards for Thanksgiving, Christmas, Valentine's Day and Easter and sit together at Mass on New Life Day in May.

Nursing Homes

The  third through the sixth graders make holiday decorations for nursing homes and visit St. Ann Retirement and Assisted Living Center to play Bingo with the residents.

Life Story Book

Junior high students participate in the annual Life Story Project, in which they interview a senior adult and write their life story for inclusion in a specially published book.  The stories are fascinating and often humorous, and the experience invariably leads to a greater appreciate of each generation for the other.

If you would like to be a Parish Star or to participate in next year's Life Story project, please contact Pam Cullen at 842-1483 or pam@ckokc.org.
